The thievery thread made me think about posting this.

I just bought a yakima roof rack with no locks and i have it on my car now i m planning on putting locks on it soon but i just searched online even with those ppl with locks on their racks some ppl still had theirs stolen.
I used to be a sales rep in the outdoor industry so i rotated a packasport top case on the two vehicles i used to cover my territories with.
I think it would have to be massacred with a crowbar to be a successful.
You will take an enormous hit on your fuel economy with that box up there.
Obviously i won t be taking on and off the roof rack since it s a lot of work.

I just removed the four allen wrenches that fit on the rack points to discourage theft but is that even too far.

The owner had tried to fix the gaping hole by cutting out some plastic and bonding it.
I m wondering if i need to be afraid of either getting stolen.
I just recently got a thule roof rack to put on my kia forte and also a thule kayak stacker.
I may be back into a more urban living environment and i m wondering if i should even put the thule box back on and leave my stuff in it if i do.

I ve seen upwards of a 10 15 loss in mileage with just a roof rack on and wind deflector.
I was looking for a thule and i found one for a good price but unfortunately it had been badly damaged.
